# NimbusKV Trademark Policy

"NimbusKV" and the NimbusKV logo are trademarks of Hemanshu Vaidya.

The code is open source under the Apache License 2.0, and you are free
to use, change, and share it under that license. The **name** is
different: it tells people where software comes from, so it is
protected separately. This page explains what you can do with it.

## You can, without asking

- Say that your product **uses**, **is built on**, or **is compatible
  with** NimbusKV.
- Refer to NimbusKV by name in articles, talks, tutorials, courses,
  benchmarks, and reviews.
- Distribute **unmodified** copies of NimbusKV under its name.
- Use the name in package metadata to declare a dependency on it.

## Please ask first

- Naming a product, company, domain, or package with "NimbusKV" in it
  (for example, "NimbusKV Cloud" or `nimbuskv-pro`).
- Using the NimbusKV logo in your own product or marketing.
- Selling merchandise with the name or logo.

## You may not

- Distribute a **modified** version of NimbusKV under the name
  "NimbusKV". If you publish a fork, give it a different name, and you
  may say it is "based on NimbusKV".
- Suggest that your product is official, certified, or endorsed by the
  NimbusKV project when it is not.
- Use a name or logo confusingly similar to NimbusKV for a similar
  product.
