# Commercial licensing

NimbusKV is free and open source under the
[Apache License 2.0](LICENSE). For almost everyone, including companies
building and selling commercial products, that license is all you need.
You do not need to buy anything to use NimbusKV in production.

## When a commercial license might be useful

Because Hemanshu Vaidya owns the copyright to NimbusKV, separate terms
are available for organisations that need something the Apache License
does not give them, for example:

- **No attribution requirement.** The Apache License requires
  redistributions to keep the `LICENSE` and `NOTICE` files. A
  commercial license can waive that.
- **Warranty or indemnity.** The Apache License provides the software
  "AS IS", with no warranty. A commercial agreement can include
  warranties, indemnification, and legal assurances your procurement
  team may require.
- **Support and response-time commitments** for production use.

## Free forever

The open-source library will stay free and fully featured. Features are
never moved from the open-source library into a paid edition.
